My practice is rooted in maximalism and colour psychology, creating visually rich works intended to evoke joy and emotional warmth in the viewer. I am particularly passionate about representing my African heritage in a positive and empowering light.

My work primarily celebrates women of colour, African textiles and an unapologetic aesthetic of excess. Through bold colour, layered pattern and ornamental detail, I explore identity and self-expression from a contemporary Black female perspective.

"Layers of drift and depth"

Inspired by Frances Kere's discussion about the architecture inspired by trees and the contrasting yellow and blue tones, I was drawn to a nature-based theme of patterns and texture, specifically within the elements of sand and sea. This direction also complements the composition of your photo.

The wooden panel texture extends from the main image, featuring a subtle inner shell pattern to represent the sandy elements. For the sea, I incorporated varying shades of blue that closely match the original image, with subtle hints of a shell pattern to enhance the marine reference, but also closely resembles African patterns relating to the architect's background.
